Project Description

This project fits into the EUREKA FeVal-5851, which is ongoing until 19.07.2014. Romanian consortium consists of coordinating research institute (RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY - ICECON S.A. ) and one SME partner (S.C. INTELECTRO Iasi S.R.L.).

The project is funded byUEFISCDI - Program Innovation - European Cooperation Subprogram Eureka - Eurostars.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Eureka No.........................................5851

Funding Contract Number................308E/19.08.2011

Project Title.......................................Sustainable Materials and Products from Poultry Feather Wastes

Project Coordinator...........................RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY - ICECON S.A.

Project Manager...............................Dr. Eng. Adrian Tabrea

Project Value:................................... total - 1.338.000 lei; granted - 655.000 lei.

Vision: The development of a new class of composite materials based waste flakes / feathers, wood powder and recycled plastic with fiber interface based on controlled size and shape for innovative insulated panels used to make green buildings, and include protocol design and manufacturing, providing technical characteristics of prototypes, test procedures and technical recommendations.

Mission: Development of building insulation panels to include in the compositions of manufacturing waste flakes / feathers, wood and recycled plastic powder, so in order to make environmentally friendly products and green buildings and waste recycling purposes, so that it meets the requirements requirements of sustainable development.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

  • The key objective is to develop technology for primary processing waste flakes / feather and plastic and analyze physical, mechanical and chemical properties of fibers from waste flakes / chicken feathers. The project aims to develop technology for manufacturing composites with fibers mixed waste flakes / chicken feathers, possibly with added wood dust, making standard products - specimens for testing thermoplastic technology (extrusion, injection, compression), the determination preliminary mechanical properties, thermal and acoustic specimens, development of processing technology at pilot line elements bio-composite materials (extrusion) product development - construction panels and profiles based biocomposites, achieving effective prototyping, bechmarking, socio-techno-economic studies and technology transfer.
  • The overall objective of the project is to support productive development of SMEs using the endogenous potential of regions (raw materials, human resources) in order to create new jobs and economic growth.

PROJECT EXPECTED RESULTS

  • 1 stand for the analysis of electromagnetic shielding capacity for plastic , wood powder and waste of feathers / feather panels;
  • trained for the use of new technologies employees;
  • 1 promotion campaign for the project made until the end of the project.

PROJECT DURATION
